- The last year has seen major shifts in how people are making purchases. One major trend is the increased demand to invest in high-quality pieces for our homes, particularly our beds.
- The Bed, by Thuma utilizes superb Japanese Joinery craftsmanship for their impeccably designed platform frame that's built to last a lifetime.
- We tested the Thuma experience from purchasing, delivery, and easy DIY assembly. After 1 month of sleeping on The Bed by Thuma, here are our thoughts:
Whether you're moving, redecorating, or you just realized you need an upgrade, buying a new bed can be super stressful. What should you look for?
Our answer? A high-quality frame made with the kind of craftsmanship that's durable and has a design that can be dressed up or down to complement every bedroom style.
With such specific requirements, we wouldn't stop until we found our perfect bed. That's when we discovered The Bed, by Thuma. Its sleek design features clean lines, subtle curves, and a streamlined silhouette that caught our attention. And the PillowBoard finishes off that minimalist look.
The Bed doesn't require a single tool for assembly and can be done in only 5 minutes! So we decided to check it out. Within a few days of ordering, The Bed shipped from California in three easy-to-carry boxes.
We laid out all the wooden parts on our bedroom floor. It's true—there were no bags of tiny screws, no annoying Allen wrenches, and literally no tools required.
In about 7-ish minutes we easily slotted each piece into each adjacent leg. It was so seamless, so effortless—thanks to the magic of Japanese Joinery.
The wood is solid and smooth, made from up-cycled rubberwood and eco-fi felt. Its natural, neutral walnut color gives it a timeless aesthetic. It has no veneers or MDFs, is Greenguard certified, and only features mindfully selected eco-friendly materials. The legs come with pre-applied cork-padded bottoms for floor protection and cushioning.
We really appreciate how each bed has natural imperfections and unique grains, an expected feature of handcrafted wood that should be celebrated. Next, we only had to lay down The Slats, which lock into place, are cushioned, and lined with eco-friendly felt made from recycled plastics for durability and sound reduction.
Finally, we placed the PillowBoard at the head of the bed, which features supportive foam backing for a comfortable, pro-lounge environment. It also comes with an interchangeable and washable linen-weave cover that keeps things fresh. We popped our mattress on top with fresh sheets, ready for the night ahead.
One month in and we can safely say that we've never been so happy with an investment. We used to believe that the mattress is all that matters when it comes to a good night's sleep, but The Bed, by Thuma, has proved us wrong. Your frame is just as important as your mattress. Has anyone ever walked into a bedroom and said, "what a beautiful mattress"? It's The Bed that makes the bedroom.
Having a solid frame that doesn't shift during the night and wakes you up with creaks the key to a peaceful night's sleep.
Replacing our bulky old bed with a sturdy and attractive bed frame with ample storage space underneath has elevated the whole flow in our bedroom. Put simply: we love it.
Don't waste time searching. The Bed, by Thuma, is the answer to your dream bedroom.
