I've long been a believer that human existence can achieve its greatest potential without the aid of chemical enhancements. Pure passion-fueled drive, focus, and ambition has turned ordinary people into heroes. There is nothing we couldn't do with the air in our lungs, with the blood in our veins. I believed we were built with everything we needed. This was until I discovered the magic of Nespresso.

I'm not one of those people who need five cups a day to stay upright until 2:30. I drink coffee when I get sick of tea, but I wouldn't classify myself as a religious coffee drinker. But my dad, who has developed an interest in K-cup classics for the past couple of years, would definitely be more in this demographic. Having heard about how a Nespresso machine was a sign of really "making it" in life, I splurged and got him one for his birthday.

I got the basic VirtuoLine machine for under $200, not wanting to sink my budget. The machine promised to make both coffee and espresso in seconds, plus came with an "Aeroccino Plus Milk Frother" for making fancier drinks. The kit also came with a sampler pack of a bunch of different coffees and espressos in beautiful jewel-toned capsules. My dad was super excited to get everything assembled, and within mere moments, he was enjoying his first cup.

The process was easy as I watched him do it from afar. Fill the water vessel, insert the capsule, lock it into place, press the "on" button, then coffee pours into your cup (and magically knows when to stop!). It sounds like a small jet taking off, especially when topping off your beautiful cup with a delicate layer of luxurious froth.

My dad was astounded by the flavor, and I couldn't understand until I tried it myself. Not only was I impressed by the smooth richness of the coffee (all the flavors I've tried so far have been delicious!), but I actually experienced an elevation in my mood. To my knowledge, caffeine is the only mood stimulating drug in Nespresso, but I felt like a new person, refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Even if you're not a regular coffee drinker, having a Nespresso in your life can turn you into one. Easy to clean, easy to store, this machine will make humans reach a whole new potential.
