3 Ways I’m Committing To Getting My Health In-Check
Every week I give myself a fresh start – a chance to put in place new, healthier habits. I’m so pumped when the week begins but my good intentions don’t mean I always succeed. I need to figure out what steps I can take to ensure that I do more times than not, which is easier said than done.
When looking back I realized where I was slacking the most; my health. There was too much takeout, TV on 24/7, and on top of that I was almost always sitting or laying down. I can’t believe I let it get so bad but this Spring I’m determined to not fall back into my bad habits.
To make my health a priority, I’m checking off these 3 lifestyle changes that need to happen:
✔ Signing up for Thistle
I’ve had some horrendous eating habits whether it was junk food, snacks, or daily takeout orders – my body and wallet suffered. Taking control of my diet is no easy task, and that’s why I’m signing up for Thistlethis Spring.
I knew I wouldn’t become a gourmet, healthy chef overnight (or ever) and thanks to Thistle I don’t have to. They’re a meal delivery service that sends fresh ready-to-eat, gluten and dairy-free, plant-forward meals directly to your doorstep.
Each week I choose from a menu of globally inspired recipes, crafted by chefs to pack both nutrients and amazing flavor. Once my meals arrive, all I have to do is simply place them in the fridge until I’m ready to eat.
All of the meals can be eaten cold or you can take the extra step and heat some of them in a skillet for 2-3 minutes, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. No matter hot or cold though, these health-packed meals are incredibly delicious and fill me right up.
I’m excited to go more plant-based with my diet but I’m not ready to commit completely, so Thistle’s protein add-ons are a great way for me to make the transition. I love saving time and energy when it comes to cooking, and meals start at $11.50 which considering the organic, locally sourced ingredients is a great deal.
The best part is that I can sign up to get meals 3-6 days each week, and can choose between breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or get all 3 so my entire day is taken care of. Plus, their plans allow me to pause or cancel anytime. Thistle is the first step in the right direction for my 2021 goals.
✔ Download a meditation app
With my eating habits on the right track thanks to Thistle, and the pressure of cooking off my shoulders I can finally turn to a long-neglected part of my life: mental health. It’s been hard to sit in silence the last few months and calm my mind. I’ve resorted to having a tv show constantly on in the background or music blasting, but I’m ready to embrace the quiet and try meditating.
However, I don’t quite know where to start so I’m downloading an app to guide me through it all. Just taking 15 minutes a day to reflect and focus my mind will help improve my mood day-to-day plus it boosts long-term brain health. Work is often stressful so I’m hoping I’ll be able to unwind more easily at the end of each day as well.
✔ Move my body more
I have to get off the couch. I’m not running to a gym anytime soon — or running anywhere as a matter of fact, but I can make a small effective change: walking more. Committing to a 20-minute walk each day is not a crazy leap in my fitness but a sure-fire way to get my body moving.
Not to mention that now I’m eating right with Thistle, I have more energy to really get my body moving. Fueling my body correctly really has made a change and even on days when I feel like I’m lagging, I take advantage of Thistle’s wellness shot for an extra boost.
Some fresh air, blood flow, and the right fuel might even inspire me to take my fitness to the next level (eventually). This season is all about resetting, refreshing, and springing back into action – and I’m all for it.
Lifes always going to throw its curveballs but with this list in hand and my health as a top priority, I know I’ll be ready. My diet’s in-check with Thistle (from meals to juices & snacks), my mind’s at peace, and my body is moving — a great way to kick off a healthier me!
