The Best App to Learn a New Language

In our fast paced society, it can be hard to find time to sit down, let alone to find time to learn a new skill. However, if you have 15 minutes to spare and a phone in your pocket, you have the time and the tools you need in order to learn a new language. With the Duolingo app, you can learn and practice a number of languages through a variety of activities that help you learn in entertaining and interesting ways.

Duolingo is a free app that offers language lessons in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Irish, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Russian, Polish, Esperanto, Turkish, Vietnamese, Hebrew, Norwegian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Welsh, and English.

The app teaches you through various "bite-sized" lessons that are set up as different levels that you need to pass in order to move on to the next stage. At the beginning of each new lesson, you get a certain number of hearts, and you lose a heart every time you answer a question wrong. If you lose all of your hearts, you have to start the level over to ensure you are learning correctly.

The lessons also include several game-like activities that teach you to read, write, listen, and speak your desired language in a way that is addicting and fun. You can start from scratch and learn a language from the ground up, or you can take a quiz that will determine your current level of education regarding a language and teach you from there. In this sense, Duolingo is an app for any and all backgrounds - and it's ad-free, so you don't have to worry about annoying pop-ups during your lessons.

For somebody who has a thirst for knowledge but barely enough time to stop at the bookstore, Duolingo is your one-stop shop for learning and growing.
